Skills for Success

Our skills are important in the world of business. A skill is the ability to do something well. If you have a well-developed skill it just may make you an expert in that field. There are five skills that I am going to touch on that I believe a skill for success. There are more however I feel these are the most important ones to start with.

“Communication works for those who work at it.” John Powell

Communication consists of a few factors listening, writing, and speaking. Listening means you are hearing what others are saying and striving to understand them. This helps you build a good relationship with the client or potential business partner. These are very important soft skills to have to succeed. Public speaking is also a great way to improve your communication skill.

“Effective communication is 20% what you know and 80% how you feel about what you know.” Jim Rohn

Critical Thinking – this is a trait that just comes naturally to some people if you believe in astrology then you may be aware that Virgos are critical thinkers and analyze every possible situation or outcome to a situation. This trait can help with bringing new ideas to the forefront of an organization or even working with your clients. Strategy requires thought, tactics require observation.

Problem-solving - I always say let us find the positive in a negative situation in business. Problems are going to arise; it is just simply the nature of the beast. We cannot dwell on them we need to fix them and move forward. When you move forward it is noticed in a positive way. Your clients rely on you to be creative and bring freshness to their problems. It is all about the approach

“We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them” Albert Einstein

Leadership- is the action of leading a group of people or an organization. However, I think most people have leadership skills and qualities. You do not need a title to justify that. Your skills help you gain visibility in the world of business. Leaders also inspire and help others reach their potential. Leaders instill in their people hope for success.

“If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more, and become more. You are a leader.” John Quincy Adams

Collaboration- We may be able to gain success from our knowledge but that can only get us so far. Your business grows with collaboration lets face it we do not know it all, so why not team up with companies who can also bring something to the table. You can start small by offering advice, teaming up to host an event, you can totally make the best out of a collaboration. Plus, it is boring at the top by yourself. Why not share the wins!

As a business coach and networking expert, I always encourage collaboration. I help female entrepreneurs gain clarity and structure in their business so they can propel, scale, and grow their business. You can schedule a complimentary discovery session here.

“Coming together is a beginning, keeping together is progress, working together is success.”
